Fasting topics almost always focus on obesity and diabetes.  I’d like to hear you guys discuss how you can lower blood pressure with extended fasting. I’ve done four extended supervised water fasts and each time I’ve been able to get great blood pressure numbers without the need for medication. Unfortunately, over time, my high blood pressure comes back probably because I haven’t cleaned up my diet. I would love to hear more about how to keep the numbers down.

1. How can I do longer fasts when i have to cook for my family of five on a nightly basis?
Hi Jimmy and Megan,
 
I love this new podcast! The longest I have ever gone during a fast is 24 hours, but I would like to go longer in fasting. I have PCOS, insulin resistance, and fibromyalgia. My problem is I have a family of 5 and I cook for them most evenings and this can trigger me to want to eat.  As you can probably guess, my family eats a clean version of the SAD diet and I am the only one who eats keto in the house.  How do I make a longer fast work in this context?  Would meal prepping ahead of time help in these situations? I would like to fast for 36 hours and then try to do longer fasts.

2. Can fasting help with the exhaustion phase of adrenal fatigue? Is IF or extended fasting better for dealing with this?
Can you please explain how fasting can help with adrenal fatigue?  keep reading conflicting information on this subject and I am unsure whether fasting is right for me. I am currently in the “exhaustion” phase of adrenal fatigue, so my question for you is whether I need to get the adrenal fatigue under control first before fasting or will fasting help me with this condition? And what kind of fast would you recommend? Is intermittent or extended fasting better for dealing with the exhaustion phase of adrenal fatigue?

3. Would drinking aloe vera juice on a fasting day break my fast?

Thank you so much for creating Fasting Talk. I have read your book The Complete Guide to Fasting and started alternate day fasting. So far, I’ve seen some great benefits doing this, including feeling fantastic, a sharp mind and focus while working, and weight loss. I have one question for you about fasting days—can I drink my aloe vera juice in the morning while fasting? Would this break the fasting period?

5. How do you prevent the loss of electrolytes and minerals when you are extended fasting?

I keep hearing you talking about fasting, fasting, fasting all the time. But if you fast with zero food for 7 days, for example, how do you not lose electrolytes and minerals? Don’t you need to drink more than just water to keep from becoming sick? I am a little confused about all this.
